Cong alleges irregularities in electoral roll

Bhopal, Apr 26:
Madhya Pradeh Congress Committee leader and spokesman Manak Agrawal has demanded to set up camps in all polling booths for two days to correct the mistakes entered in the electoral rolls by adding the names of the voters whose names have not been included earlier.
Agrawal said that the one day camp held on April 26 at some selected polling booth area is just a formality. Because, he said, this sort of irregularities have been detected in all polling booth areas of the city and thousands of voters have not received their photo identity cards and their names included in the electoral roll.
Agrawal said that the Congress had earlier also alerted the state government about the irregularities being committed while preparing photo identity cards and electoral rolls. The Congress has received thousands of complaints from different parts of the city in this regard, he said. In spite of the party's repeated requests, the state government has not done anything worthwhile in this direction, he said.
Agrawal accused that the persons entrusted to rectify the electoral roll did so while sitting at the area BJP leader's house instead of visiting every house in the area. He said that this was the reason why thousands of voters are deprived of photo identity cards and entry in electoral roll.
The Congress spokesman demanded that the final electoral roll should be made available at every polling booth area for two days at least so that names of those who are not included can be entered into the electoral rolls. Otherwise, a large number of people will be deprived of their right to vote, he warned.
