National
Gyan Commission has warned that higher education institutions
such as IIT and IIM should not be interfered with in their
work otherwise it could result into adverse conditions. Chairman
of the commission, Sam Pitroda in his letter to Prime Minister,
Dr Manmohan Singh, said that direct interfere of ministries
in the work of institutions is not fair. Pitroda is technical
expert of subjects and he does not take interest in politics.
In such condition his advice should be taken seriously. Pitroda
said that to ensure autonomous form of institutions they should
kept away from the daily routine work of ministries. It shows
his seriousness towards higher education institutions. His
intention is about quality of these renowned institutions.
Recently exercises were made for reservation of OBC quota
on government level. There is dilemma among the people about
admission in these institutions. In vote politics the leaders
have tendency of making policy and changing into system. It
affects the quality of these institutions. Question raises
on the future of the students. It is not in favour of these
institutions that admissions are given from back door with
pressure. But for the political leaders, it does not make
any difference. Institute management thinks better for maintaining
quality of the institutions because finally its credit and
image goes to its management. Pitroda's advice is agreeable
completely. But it is true that institutions should take better
decisions on the basis of their quality and level then we
can get better results. Pitroda's suggestions should be taken
seriously and the higher education institutions should allow
to execute their work according to administrative system.
