Bundelkhand gets Rs 17,827 cr capital investment

Bhopal, Apr 25: In a short span of three years, the state government has mobilised capital investment worth Rs 18,000 crore for Bundelkhand, which was dubbed as a backward region.

The state government had introduced unlimited possibilities and ample natural resources to famous industrial houses across the world by organising investors' meets, resulting in signing of 217 MoUs for investing Rs 2,45,919 crore in the state. As many as 102 MoUs worth Rs 1,20,541 crore at Indore summit, 61 MoUs worth Rs 56,829 crore at Jabalpur Meet and 36 agreements worth Rs 29,549 crore were inked at Sagar meet.

These efforts have ensured investment to the tune of Rs 17,827 crore for Bundelkhand region as well. The biggest investment to the tune of Rs 10,300 crore for Bundelkhand was mobilised through special efforts undertaken by the present state government in May 2005. Under this, a six million tonne crude oil refinery is being set up at Agasod in Bina district.

Bundelkhand region got Rs 2180 crore investment at Indore Investors Summit. Under this MoU, Ind Agro Synergy Ltd Bhopal would set up 80 MW power plant and one and half lakh tonne iron enrichment plant at Purena industrial area in Panna district.

MoU worth Rs 2250 crore was signed with SPJ Steel and Minerals Pvt Ltd Kolkata at Jabalpur Investors Meet for setting up integrated steel plant and power plant at Pathariya in Damoh district. Another MoU worth Rs 850 crore was signed with Diamond Cement, Damoh for establishing 250 metric tonne cement plant at Damoh.

As many as 36 MoUs worth Rs 29,549 crore were signed at Bundelkhand Investors Meet which was held on April 11 where Bundelkhand had got investment worth Rs two lakh 217crore. Rs 30 crore worth MoU was signed with MNR Mining Indore for establishing pig iron plant at Chhatarpur, Rs 30.30 crore agreement with DC Rathore for setting up alcohol plant in village Maihar in Sagar Tahasil and Rs 150 crore MoUs was signed with Messrs. Neo Comforts Products Pvt Ltd Rajkot for jatropha cultivation, production of biodiesel and growing animal fodder in Panna and Katni districts.

Rashmi Cement Ltd Kolkata would set up iron plant and captive power plant in Sagar with Rs one thousand crore investment. MSP Metallics Kolkata would establish Rs 80 crore iron and benefaction plant. Sugar, ethanol and captive power plants would be set up at a cost of Rs 137.20 crore at Patna Kakri village in Rehli Tehsil of Sagar district. Inland Cement Company Pvt Ltd would invest Rs 690 crore for establishing platisation, benefaction, sponge iron and captive power plants in Chhatarpur in the first phase and cement plant in the second phase. University would be established in Sagar at a cost of Rs 50 crore by Sagar-based Prakhar Shiksha Prasar Evem Samaj Sanstha while M Techmach Ores and Minerals Ltd Kolkata would set up Rs 80 crore iron and benefaction plant in Chhatarpur district.
