AIR, DD employees' pen down strike continue

Bhopal, Apr 24: Administrative officers/employees of All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan (DD) have been demanding for pay up-gradation at par with their programme and engineering counterparts for the last ten years. In spite of the repeated assurances from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Prasar Bharati, the orders are not being issued.

It may be noted that the National Council of Akashwani and Doordarshan Administrative Staff Association (ADASA) are again on agitation for the up-graded pay scale. Under this, the representatives of ADASA Sangam Thakur (General Secretary), RS Pandey (Zonal Secretary, Madhya Pradesh), GS Acharya (Delhi Zone), OP Sharma (Rajasthan Zone) and S Ramgopal (Tamil Nadu Zone) are on an indefinite hunger strike at the premises of Akashwani Bhawan, New Delhi from April 22, whereas under the country wide agitation, employees are on a pen down strike in Akashwani and Doordarshan Kendras all over the country and it continued for the third day on Thursday.

Administrative work was on a stand still even on the third day today in all the offices in Madhya Pradesh. The association has claimed that the agitation will continue till their demands are met. Employees are ready for a do or die fight this time. Agitation was lead by TC Ramteke, Romel Masih, Abraham Thomas, SS Bohat, Suryakant Gadiwan, Ms Rama Telang, Ms Annamma Varghese of Akashwani Bhopal Unit and KV Jose, President, DK Rathi, Secretary and Abhay Gilke of the Doordarshan Bhopal Unit. Employees staged their protest by raising slogans.
