Discus thrower Krishna Poonia became the fifth athlete to qualify for the Beijing Olympics after finishing fourth in a women's invitational event in the United States.
Poonia crossed the Olympic qualification mark with a throw of 59.04m in the Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodger Stadium-Walnut in California, held from April 17 to 20.
Vikas Gowda, who has already qualified for the men's discus throw event in Beijing, threw a 55.54m to finish sixth in Tennessee Relays, another invitational event, held at Knoxville in Tennessee (USA) from April 10-12, according to Athletics Federation of India release.
Triple jumper Renjith Maheshwary, long jumper Anju Bobby George and heptathlete Susmita Singha Roy are the other three from the track and field event to have qualified for the Olympics.
