Reliance Announces `Gaon Chalo'

Bhopal, Apr 23: India's leading Telecom operator, Reliance Communications Limited today announced their special product for Rural India. Project "Gaon Chalo" offers a series of special products customized for the vast population of rural India, who reside outside the Census Urban towns. It may be noted that this new product will potentially touch the lives of 72% of Indians, who reside in rural India where telephony will now rapidly penetrate.

Under the new scheme, people residing in rural India can now go mobile for just Rs.49, which offers then a new activated pre-paid SIM card. This price is a 50% discount over the cost to go mobile in Urban areas. Customers are free to choose any validity, talk-time or tariff propositions on this card as there is absolutely no restriction.

Customers also have the option of buying a new pre-paid SIM card with Lifetime Validity for just Rs.249. Apart from these very special prices while buying the product, customers using these cards will also receive Rs.75 worth Talktime Free, conveniently disbursed in easy installments over the next few months. The offer is available nationally from Reliance Communications across both GSM & CDMA networks.

Speaking on the occasion, SP Shukla - President, said "Reliance has always been the pioneer of affordable telecommunication for the masses. After bringing down cost of calls, validity and devices in Urban India which triggered unprecedented market growth, we will now do the same for the rural population.

Speaking on the occasion Santanu Chakrabarty, Hub Head, MP, CG and Orissa said, "Gaon Chalo" project will not only usher in new levels of affordability for telephony but also create improved productivity for the Indian rural population through various new, user-friendly and affordable Value Added Services."
