Kathmandu, Apr 22: The Nepali Congress has accused Maoist of threatening the voters during the constituent assembly elections and claimed that it led to the party's defeat in the polls.

"The Maoists had threatened candidates, campaigners and voters during the election to the constituent assembly," the party said in a statement.

The allegations were made on the basis of the report submitted by 35 of total 75 district committees of the NC on party's defeat in the elections.

Meanwhile, 22 Nepali Congress supporters have been forced to leave their homes in Maoist controlled Rukum district of mid-West Nepal, after the former rebels issued threat to take strong action against them, the NC said in the statement.

The Maoists have blamed them of actively supporting the Nepali Congress during the election and threatened to take stringent physical action against them.

In the mean time, three cadres of an armed group of Terai have been arrested from Mahottari district in southern Nepal, according to a state run Nepal Television.
