Row over shifting of cowshed

Indore, Apr 21: The existence of a 50-year-old veterinary centre and a cowshed has been endangered with the Dehradun Municipal Corporation's proposal for the construction of a shopping mall in its place.

Following his Dehradun tour, city-resident People for Animal Secretary Sudhir Khetawat said that a Britisher constructed a veterinary centre in his dog's memory and later a cowshed was also set up there.

''Due to spiralling urbanisation, there is a scheme to develop a mall in the busy quartier of Dehradun hence cowshed has to be shift but this thing is bothering animal lovers,'' he said, adding that the bovines would be deprived of the leftover food arrived from the nearby homes.

Social activist Mohan Joshi said that they urged Municipal Corporation to rescinded decision.
