Efforts to mobilise proper facilities for medical education are on with a rapid pace in the state. In this series, a strategy is being chalked out to renovate the medical colleges at Bhopal and Indore. The process for floating tenders for various construction works is going to be completed soon.
A new building would be constructed at a cost of Rs 3.53 crore under Out Patient Department of Medical College at Bhopal. Similarly, another story would be added to the present building of the college by spending Rs 1.73 crore. The state government has given financial sanction to the works and favours their early completion. The process of fixing construction agency is to be completed soon by floating tenders.
Meanwhile, in Indore, a 1000-seat auditorium would be built at Indore Medical College with an estimated cost of Rs 3.30 crore apart from a 100-seat hostel which would cost Rs 4.50 crore. Two lecture halls would also be constructed at a cost of Rs 23 lakh. With a view to enhancing facilities at Indore Medical College, seven demonstration rooms and a 50-seat laboratory would also be built there at an estimated cost of Rs 1.62 crore and Rs 1.21 crore, respectively.
