Bhopal, Apr 20: Bhopal Carnival-2008 is being organised under the aegis of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Limited in the state capital. Under this Carnival, Cricket Tournament is also be organised under the aegis of Bhopal Divisional Cricket Tournament at Old Campion Ground, Arera Colony. The Chairman of Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Dhruv Narayan Singh inaugurated the cricket tournament.

On the occasion, the president of the organising committee Dr Shafkat Mohammad Khan expressed gratitude to Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation and he said that we are very happy that cricket tournament has been included in Bhopal Carnival-2008 and it is a great opportunity for the cricket players as well as cricket lovers. The Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Ashivi Lohani, corporator Tulsi Verma, AV Singh Dev, Rajat Mohan Verma, Brijesh Lunawat, Hamid Ullah Khan "Mamu".

And large number of eminent personalities was also present.

The inaugural match was played between Irani Club and Arera Academy and Irani Club defeated Arera Academy by 47 runs and entered in quarterfinals. Irani Club won the toss and took first batting. The team scored 291 runs. Virendra Viadya and Vikram put up excellent performance, Virendra Vaidya scored 51 runs, Suraj Bagora and Jubin John scored 110 runs. Yogesh of Arera Academy bagged 3 wickets to give 48 runs, Ashutosh Yadav also bagged 3 wickets to give 30 runs.

But in the replay, Arera Academy did not complete the target and scored 244 runs and Irani Club won the match, Jubin John has been declared Man of the Match, Mahesh Joshi of BJP Arera Mandal distributed the trophy.

Carrom championship

Inter Department Postal Accounts Carrom Championship was organised and the result has been declared as Secretariat Team secured first position, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) team secured second position, CPMG (Bhopal) secured third position and MARKFED, Bhopal Team secured forth position.
