MP Chapter of Medical Microbiologists opened

Bhopal, Apr 20: The inaugural ceremony of conference of Madhya Pradesh Chapter of the Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists was organised on Sunday at the premises of Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC), Karond. Dr Prabha Desikan, In-charge of Department of Microbiology, BMHRC was the organising secretary. Brigadier KK Maudar, Director of BMHRC was the patron. Dr Deepak Dube, HOD, Department of Microbiology, Gandhi Medical College (GMC) and Dr Aruna Jain, HOD, Department of Pathology, BMHRC chaired the sessions.

Medical Microbiologists from all over Madhya Pradesh attended the meet. During the conference, it was noted that it has been many years since the Science of Medical Microbiology has been separated from the Science of Pathology and the Medical Microbiology has made giant strides since then.

The keynote addresses were delivered by Dr VM Katoch, Director of National JALMA Institute for Leprosy and other Microbacterial Diseases, and Dr Abhaya Chowdhary, Director of ARCON, Mumbai, Dr Katoch stated that tuberculosis was a major killer in our country. He said that thousands of people die of tuberculosis due to lack of proper diagnosis. He emphasised that a number of lives could not be saved by using the newer rapid microbiological diagnostic methods that are available now.

Dr Abhaya Chowdhary stated that the incidence of tuberculosis has increased with the current epidemic of AIDS. Many people with tuberculosis are also infected with HIV and this has led to a tremendous increase in the number of deaths due to tuberculosis. He reiterated that rapid, appropriate microbiological test on such patients would save a number of lives.

Dr Prabha Desikan summarised the large amount of work on tuberculosis carried out by the Department of Microbiology, BMHRC. Currently this the only laboratory in the state capital that carries out rapid culture and drug sensitivity testing for tuberculosis using rapid, automated computerised systems.

CRISP awarded for quality in Paris

Bhopal, Apr 20: Today, CRISP is being decorated at the 12th global Quality Convention in Paris with the International star for Leadership in Quality Aard. CRISP is the very first organisation in MP and second in India to have been decorated by such a prestigious award.

CRISP has been identified for this award after serious brain storming for 10 months by business organisation from 93 countries of the world. Since inception of this award in 1986, professional and business organisation of 173 countries of the world have been decorated.

CRISP is an autonomous organisation stblished under the Department of Technical Education and Training, Government of Madhya Pradesh with substantial financial and technical support of GTZ, India (a German Government Organisation). GTZ has been conspicuous by 22 years of its presence in the area of technical education in this state.

The Award ceremony is being attended by diplomats, business community, the media, artist, professionals and fortune 500 companies from 76 countries.

With the novel collaboration of GTZ and Govt oe MP, CRISP has appeared at the global scenario as a renowned organisation practising Quality in the delivery of services.

The State of MP and the entire country have strong reason to feel proud of CRISP and the collaboration between the Department of Technical Education and Training, Govt. of MP and the GTZ.
