BJP, Cong in election mode

By Our Staff Reporter

Bhopal, April 20: With only six-months in hand, Madhya Pradesh's ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party and it's main rival Congress party are on election mode.

BJP has established an election cell in the state party headquarters and initiated efforts for election management.

Anil Dave, state BJP vice president has been appointed in-charge of this cell.

"The party will corner on the issue of price hike and is relying on the various welfare schemes and policies launched by Shivraj Singh Government for the people of Madhya Pradesh", said a senior party leader to Central Chronicle on Sunday while preferring anonyomity for obvious reasons.

In the past two-years, ruling BJP Government has launched various people oriented welfare schemes in the State. Even some of the schemes like - 50 per cent reservation to women in Gram Panchayat level, Ladli Laxmi Yojna for the girl child made their appearance in the party's election manifesto during 2007 UP Assembly election.

"Now the party is hopeful to get rich dividends from such people welfare schemes, particularly from the rural belt", he added.

The Congress is primarily relying to encash from the anti-incumbency factor.

"The BJP Government, not only failed in all fronts but was not able to keep the promises it made in the 2003 Assembly elections. There are thousands of issues (without taking the name of single one) and hundreds of Governments failure on which the Congress party will corner BJP", said a close associate of newly appointed Pradesh Congress Chief Suresh Pachauri.

When reminded about the Betul debacle and Congress failure to retain Rajya Sabha seat. Anyway, Betul won't affect won't continue after six-months. He said, if Congress won't have fought strategically like it did, it would have lost by over one-lakh votes. The BJP winning all the three Rajya Sabha seats is really a matter of concern, he added.
