Wonderful earthen pots to your liking

Bhopal, Apr 19: The pots made of steel and other metals ahve replaced earthen pots these days. Still, beautiful items made of earth are liked by one and all for decoration. The eye-catching beauty of the items attracts people towards them.

The three most important things we need to live in this world are the earth, air and water. Earth is used for several purposes like growing food, house construction and for preparing beautiful artifacts. The items made of soil express the expertise of the artisans. In good old days we used to utilise earthen pots for preparing food. The steel and other metal pots replaced earthen pots these days. Still, beautiful items made of earth are liked by one and all for decoration. The eye-catching beauty of the items attracts people towards them.

Since time immemorial, the human had imagination and it used to turn into beautiful items by the expert hands. These days, Bhopal also is witnessing the expertise of these artisans. Citizens of this capital city are attracted towards the beautiful items and they are taking them to their homes for decoration with pride. We the Bhopal Today Team talked to some artisans and the visitors to know what they think of the earthen items.

Kundan Solanki, an artisan said he has made several beautiful decorative and household items like tea cup, saucer, flower pot, etc with Chinese soil.

Maina, another artisan said that she has been working in this field all her life. We do prepare several items with Chinese soil. People from all walks of life buy our items. Different items are costing between Rs 15 to Rs 650, she added.

Harshida is housewife. She had come to have a look at the items for sale and buy some of them. She said she liked the Chinese soil made items and has bought several items. These are beautiful as well as convenient also. Therefore, I prefer these items, she added.

R K Agnihotri is retired from the State Bank of India as Manager. He has been using the crockery items since long and still prefers to use these items rather than the metal made ones. He said he has purchased some items from the Haat.

First of all, the raw items are prepared and later colouring and printing is done. Then the items are greased before putting in the fire for hours to strengthen them.

Different items cost according to its size and beauty. Pen stand costs Rs 15 while half a dozen tea cups cost around Rs 40. A plate costs Rs 20 and Donga Rs 70. A flower vase will cost you Rs 80 while the cost of flowerpot is between Rs 650 and Rs 850. Quite expensive, you might think. Yes, it is slightly costly, but it is a beautiful item too.
