15 to 20 per cent of children are died of diarrhoea every year in our country. UNICEF's Regional Health Specialist, Dr Gagan Gupta informed that if ORS and zinc tablets were given to the patients in time, the mortality rate could have been brought down considerably. He advised to administer the new ORS to the child patients as soon as the symptoms started showing.
Dr Gupta was addressing the concluding day function of the two day national workshop of paediatricians on Saturday. He advised the doctors not to give unnecessary antibiotics to the diarrhoea patients.
Dr Gupta said that with the co-ordination of the Central Government, new ORS and zinc tables have been made available in all public health centres in Guna and Shivpuri districts of the state. He said that these items will be made available in public health centres in other districts very soon. The new ORS and zinc tables can help to control the disease fast, he added.
On the second and final day of the workshop lectures were held about lever transplantation, malnutrition, treatment to vomiting of blood and other diseases. Dr Neelam Dhawan from Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi informed that facility to transplant lever is available in several hospitals in the country. He said that so far lever transplantation was done to 23 children in Sir Gangaram Hospital. Dr Neelam explained in detail about the technique of the transplantation. She advocated that the children should be given pure drinking water and nutritional food to keep the lever healthy.
Dr AK Patwari, paediatrician from New Delhi informed about the injection for controlling the rota virus. Group discussion and seminar were also conducted during the workshop. Workshop organising president Dr Rashmi Dwivedi and Organising Secretary Dr Rakesh Mishra proposed vote of thanks to the guests and all those who attended the workshop.
Two-day National Seminar begins

Two-day National Seminar is being organised under the aegis of National Federation of Polytechnic Teachers from Saturday at National Institute of Technical Teachers' Training and Research (NITTTR), Shyamla Hills.
Ashish Dongre, Secretary of Rejiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal, GS Sharma, Principal of Government AV Polytechnic, Bhopal were the special guests and the programme was presided over by the President of National Federation of Polytechnic Teachers. Satish Suryan, General Secretary of the Federation, New Delhi highlighted the objective of the seminar and he also informed about the various future projects of the federation.
Principal Dr Sharma said that not only India as well as all over the world is effected. He said that all the polytechnic college should be affiliated to University as the Polytechnic Colleges of Madhya Pradesh. He suggested that as such kind of ground work should be done for the better future of the students as well as polytechnic teachers. As per the requirement of the modern age, the atmosphere of the study should be made as per modern techniques and technologies. All India Council of Technical Education and University Grant Commission should not be finished and the objective should be evaluated.
Dongre of RGTU and GS Sharma, Principal of Government AV Polytechnic College praised for the efforts and said that all the teachers, representatives of all the polytechnic colleges of the country are discussing for the development about the polytechnic education. The programme was conducted by SK Pipra, Secretary (Central Region) Madhya Pradesh. OP Shrivastava proposed the vote of thanks. Around 50 teachers, representatives from 12 States of the country are taking part in the seminar.
