Bhopal, Apr 17: A speeding jeep today crushed an elderly person at Danish Nagar Square, Misrod. He died on the spot.

According to police, Nandlal Patel (73), resident of C-608, Shahpura was crossing road near Danish Nagar Square on Thursday morning at 6.

Meanwhile, a rashly driven jeep bearing registration number MP-05/G-6235 dashed him. Nandlal Patel received serious injuries in the accident and died on the spot.

Police have arrested the accused driver and seized the jeep.

Rape case against engg student

An engineering student raped a girl after luring her to marry with her. Police have registered a rape case against the culprit.

According to Ashoka Garden police, a 22-year-old girl works in a private company in MP Nagar. Before 2 years when she was a student of BCom in Nutan College, an engineering student, Homendra Puri Goswami of Bansal College, resident of Raisen was in love with the her.

He had been raping the girl since May 12, 2006 after luring her and giving assurance of marriage. When the girl proposed for marriage, Homendra not only refused her but also threatened to kill her.

The victim registered a case under section 376,506 against the accused. However the accused was still not arrested.
