Terrorism stalks India as never before

A report attributed to the Ministry of Home Affairs and NSA, lists as many as 175 active terrorist groups spread all over India from the Northeast (115) to northwest and the rest (60). Keeping eye on them, tracking them down and fighting them require allocation of huge forces and funds that will keep the country away from fighting poverty, hunger, illiteracy and disease Sadly, the leadership, both in government and in the opposition are over engrossed in playing petty vote bank politics, spreading confusion, dividing people, smashing public property, squandering money on promoting individuals, burning effigies over non-issues and what not. Indiscipline and corruption have permeated the country as never before.

The well-meaning people are feeling helpless. We can continue with this at our own peril. It is time to sink our differences, solve our problems peaceably through discussion and debate and fight the menace of foreign and homegrown terrorists unitedly. If we don't do that we will meet the same fate as other countries in the neighbourhood and elsewhere in the world. As of now contrary to the tall claims made by the leadership on both sides of the political divide, there is very little to celebrate.
