India
is second in the countries that are developing fast. Still
social inequality exists in our society. In Madhya Pradesh
too, this sort of inequality prevails. The recent happenings
in Indore district is an example of this. The incident happened
in Datoda village of Simroul area. A marriage party of a Dalit
consisting about 25 was going when another marriage party
of an upper caste consisting about 150 people was moving on
the opposite direction. Seeing the Dalits wearing headgear,
the upper caste people became angry and abused and attacked
the Dalits shouting- 'weren't you warned earlier too not to
wear the headgear?' This is another picture of our country
and the state which are fast developing. The world is developing
fast but we still couldn't discard our age-old practice of
inequality and untouchability. The role of every member of
society to root out inequality with any class of people is
important. In many areas the practice of untouchability still
persists even though there are a number of laws to take care
of this menace. Not that all members of the upper caste believe
in this way of life, hence the selected few should be booked
by the law enforcing agencies and given exemplary punishment
so that people of their kind dare not repeat the same. The
intelligentsia should come forward and create awareness among
the less learned people. It is a blot on the Indian society.
Every year we remember Baba Saheb Ambedkar - the messiah of
Dalits and the framer of the Indian Constitution. Even the
intention of major political parties to bring the backwards
and dalits onto the mainstream of society is sincere. However,
frequent news reports in remote villages, dishonouring the
weaker sections of the society are very discouraging. It seems
the implementation of the rules for welfare of dalits are
not being properly adhered to.
