Competition of Bhajan singing at Vasant Mahotsava

Bhopal, Apr 16: Bhajan Singhing competition was organised during the Basant Utsav 08 in the month of February. The Basant Utsav 08 could not be held in February this year. Instead, it was held in April at Manas Bhawan, Shyamla Hills, Bhopal.

During the Basant Utsav 08, several women participated in group singing and solo singing. It was a programme of competition but everybody felt as if they were in the presence of God. Some women were so impressed with the music and singing that they started dancing. Ramakant Dubey, Mrs. Rajni Yadav and Shyam Pyare Swarnakar were the judges. Mrs Mala Bhatt, Mrs Uma Namdev, Mrs. Sharda Valyan and Mrs. Savita Bangad were the main participants.

Ramakant Dubey, a judge said singing, particularly Bhajan singing is an important part of everyone's life. If sang with dedication, we will feel that the God is present within us. Generally, women are busy at home. Such programmes are good for everybody, he said.

Mrs. Rajni Yadav, another judge, said women are more interested in singing. They can handle Dholak and Harmonium. All participants were of first class quality. But we have to select one as the first as this is a competition, she said.

Shyam Pyare Swarnakar, a judge said that Bhajan singing gives every one mental peace. It gives more pleasure to hear in the sweet voices of women. The organisers should be lauded for such a programme, he said.

The winners

1st Mrs Mala Bhatt Rs 750.

2nd Mrs Savita Bagad Rs 600.

3rd Mrs Sharda Valyan Rs 500.
