Govt seeks proposals for tribal improvement

By Our Staff Reporter

Bhopal, Apr 16: The state government has instructed district collectors to send the proposals about improvement of administration in tribal areas and primitive tribes which are to be forwarded to 13th Finance Commission. The government has asked them to send proposals regarding arrangements of land, houses, special nutritious diet, drinking water and establishment of Ashram Shools apart from construction of houses for departmental employees. Besides, divisional commissioners have been asked to convene division level meetings soon in this connection.

The proposals collected and sent by district collectors to the state government would be forwarded to Union Tribal Affairs Ministry. In May, Principal Secretary OP Rawat would put forth state government's stand on these proposals through a presentation.

The points to be covered in the proposals include making primitive tribal families landowners by giving ownership rights on the land under their possession, by allotting them surplus land or by purchasing land for the purpose.

Similarly, proposals would also be prepared on provision of house to every primitive tribal family and distribution of nutritious diet through Anganwadis in villages/habitats where more than 50 primitive tribal families live apart from ensuring adequate drinking water arrangements, establishment of Ashram Schools and construction of houses for departmental employees.

The state government has also instructed the collectors to inform at the earliest of the action plan for implementing the proposed points and estimated cost. These proposals would be incorporated in the funds to be demanded from 13th Finance Commission.
