The Central Government is now fighting inflation with monetary and fiscal measures with the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission in hand due for implementation after further revisions. It will be proper if the recommendations are considered taking into account the further inflation that will take place due to the demands of the state government and the PSU employees. Further the matter of revision of salaries and allowances of our MPs is due any time.
The havoc caused by the implementation of the Fifth Pay Commission recommendations is still fresh in the public memories. Safe and secure service with periodically guaranteed increments on account of revisions of DA and pay, have been the most attractive features of employment in Government, with the pension benefits being the icing on the cake.
Any revision in the salaries of the Government employees will have a large multiplier effect on inflation and should consider the plight of majority of the population which is excluded from such revisions.
