As an individual, Shivraj Singh Chouhan belongs to a particular region of Madhya Pradesh, but in his capacity as the CM, he belongs to entire State. This is evident from his tireless efforts to bring prosperity in all regions of the State on an equal footing, analyses SMS News and Features.
Industrialisation is the most effective tool for development and rapid progress of a region. Right since taking over reins of the State, Chouhan has been striving to usher in national as well international level investors to the State. He undertook a number of foreign trips apart from holding road shows in the country's industrial hubs like Mumbai and Bangalore etc.
Then started the series of investors meets and summits. It started from Khajuraho followed by Indore and Jabalpur. At that juncture, people were guessing as to whether the process of investors meets has come to a halt in the State. But that was not to be. One more region needed uplift and change of fact and that was the backward, industry-less region of Bundelkhand.
On April 11, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh opened the doors of progress, prosperity and development on Bundelkhand investors meet.
The one-day Bundelkhand Investors' meet turned out to be a tremendous success as 36 MoUs worth Rs 29.549 crore were inked. Out of these 22 MoUs worth Rs 15.292 crore were signed at the concluding session at Sagar while at the inaugural session, 14 MoUs for investment worth Rs 14257 crore 20 lakh were inked in the presence of the Chief Minister. The importance and significance of Bundelkhand Investors Meet can be gauged from the fact that besides, investors from Netherlands and other European countries, 110 investors from all over India and 500 from Madhya Pradesh including Bundelkhand participated in it and signed wide-ranging agreements relating to cement, power, mineral processing, iron, steel, sugar and Jatropha plantation.
Chief Minister's resolve to develop all the regions of the state came to the fore when he said at the inaugural session that Bundelkhand is rich in vast possibilities but it is ironical that most of the people living on this rich soil are poor. The Chief Minister word smacked of honesty and sincerity when he said that his government wants to change this face of Bundelkhand and its mission is to ensure social, economic, industrial and infrastructural development of entire state as well as Bundelkhand.
Chouhan said that earlier the state lacked conducive atmosphere for industrial development. Our government has developed a new work culture. With this, Madhya Pradesh has become a model state in the context of industrial development. He said that we do not sit idle while remaining satisfied with inking of MoUs alone. MoUs are not mere pieces of paper for us. Those MoUs would be cancelled implementation on which is not started within six months. He informed that implementation on 70 percent of the total 181 MoUs has started.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that it has become impossible to remain dependent merely on present methods of agriculture. He said that this investors' meet is part of the strategy to counter and tide over the drought which has hit Bundelkhand region for the last two consecutive years. He said that youths of Bundelkhand are brimming with potential. It is industrialisation through which vast employment opportunities can be made available to the young generation of the region. The Chief Minister said industrial houses should also set up training centres side by side their units so that trained human resources become available at the local level.
Earlier, Indore Investors Summit had also met with tremendous success and opened the floodgates of job opportunities, development and progress in the state.
At the Indore Summit held on October 27, the state government indeed succeeded in its purpose. that 102 MoUs amounting Rs 1,20,541 were signed at Indore. These MoUs included Sasson Ultra Mega Power Project of 2960 mw capacity being established in Sidhi district by Messrs. Reliance Power Limited of Reliance Anil Ambani Group.
