Viewers miss healthy entertainment

Bhopal Today Team

Bhopal, Apr 13: "In this age of stiff competition, different sources are available for entertainment. These sources also provide us knowledge and information. On the other hand, these have also become a source for earning easy money. Therefore, providing healthy entertainment has become secondary. The commercial side has assumed top priority."

In our modern day lifestyle, everyone of us is too busy. The workload is so much that it is really difficult to keep up with the mainstream life. Don't we think of having a little fun or entertainment in our busy life? We have different alternative sources of entertainment and information. TV, video, Internet are some of them which have become parts of our life. Now the question is are we getting healthy entertainment and mental peace from these sources?

Today, over 100 TV channels are available to entertain us. Due to stiff competition among these channels, they do provide us true facts and entertainment. But there are some side effects also. Some unnecessary items on these channels affect our lifestyle. In the good old days, we used to entertain ourselves with the available sources like drama, Ramlila, Noutanki, Geet Bhajan etc. They had no bad side effects.

Ramlila is being organised at Delhi even today. But due to change in time, its standard has come down. After introduction of All India Radio and Door Darshan, people were eager to hear the AIR or watch the great epic serials like Ramayana and Mahabharata in Door Darshan. Through these serials, the ordinary man could learn a lot about the epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata and the lifestyle during that age. But today, the TV channels have changed themselves to the taste of the viewers which is not healthy entertainment. Then, is there other sources which entertain the society? We talked to some informed persons in the field of art and entertainment. What they say -

Pawan Shrivastava, director, department of art and culture said entertainment has become an important part of our life. From early times to today, there were a lot of changes in the field of art and culture. Today, the satellite TV channels provide us information and knowledge. Still, classical music, classical dance and other age-old arts have their own importance. A major portion of our society is now attracted towards the modern sources of entertainment. Because of there are variety of entertainment in the modern sources.

Talking to others, going places, religious services or creative activities will give you healthy entertainment.

Shivendra Verma, producer, Door Darshan is of the view that the society is not getting good entertainment from the TV and channels. Everything is tuned as per the taste of the market. In this scenario, your creativity is suffered. TV producers are forced to do such things which are generally liked by the masses. In fact the quality is suffered and the quality works of earlier times have to be retelecast for the sake of quality. The TV channels that entertain the masses now have to work hard slowly and responsibly to create a healthy society.

Sandeep Yadav, a student of BBA says that we are forced to do a lot of work in a short time. Therefore, healthy entertainment has become the necessity of the day. It is true that we are impressed with the TV, video and mobile. But the enjoyment from seeing drama, good music and dance is altogether different. Surely, the medium of information technology has an important role to play in creation of a healthy society.

Archana Sachan, student, M.Com. says that entertainment is a real necessity these days. Our society is dependent on the TV and video for entertainment. In our busy life we have no alternative. As and when I get time, I always see good films to entertain myself.

Bhavna Moolchandani, BBA student says that TV, internet and mobile entertains her. The TV gives us information and entertainment of the whole world. Still, I do hear the FM Radio whenever I find time. I prefer to read good books and go on tour with family members for healthy entertainment.
