Kuala Lumpur, Apr 12: Malay Indian S. R Nithy plans to pedal 7,483km through the Indian sub-continent on a solar-powered rickshaw in the name of the environment.

After undertaking cycling expeditions to 73 countries in the aid of various causes, most people would be happy to mothball their bicycles and rest on their laurels.

This is not the case with S.R. Nithy.

Nithy, according to The Star and the New Strait Times, has a desire to take to the road again and push himself to the limits while changing the world. After a seven-year break, the Klang-born "Good Samaritan" is getting set to undertake 7,483 km cycle tour of the Indian subcontinent.

"I would like to test whether we can use solar-powered rickshaws," the 44-year-old was quoted as saying in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The yearlong journey will take him through Colombo, Mumbai, Islamabad, New Delhi, Kathmandu, Dhaka and Bangalore.

Nithy will ride a rickshaw that is also fitted with equipment to warm water when sunlight is not available.

Nithy, who is now based in Texas, targets his tenth expedition to begin in three years. (ANI)
