Bhopal April 11:
Hostel life in Bhopal is a really different experience. Parents from states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand send their children to technical institutes of Bhopal which boasts of a large number of technical institutes, with great dreams.
However, most of these students instead of investing their time in building career, go astray. They take the liberty of whiling away their time.Boys indulge in music, masti and loiter around girls hostels. While girls also misuse the trust reposed in them by their parents. They start roaming around with boys till late hours in the night only to return to their hostels in the last minute of closure.
This culture that has of late started in Bhopal, has sent old denizens of the city worrying. They go in nostalgia when they recall the culture of `purdah' in the city. JB Mall, a resident of MP Nagar said that in his younger days it was a taboo to even think of roaming in situations as students do today. Is it time for youngsters to introspect and concentrate on their studies, he added.
However, notwithstanding reservations of the senior citizens, students continue to enjoy life. We talked to a few students on life in hostels.
Vijay Gupta I feel that hostel life is the best part of a students life but lack of light and electricity has made life a real hell. What one does of ones life is his own choice.
Mahesh Singh from Gorakhpur says "Hostel life gives you freedom but also teaches you the basic lessons of life. It gives you the knack of handling real life situations. Lack of drinking water facilities and exhorbitant charges by landlords are really troublesome.
Mauli from Delhi is all praise for her 'Daughters Nest'hcstel. The cost is at par with facilities. Basic needs like light ,hygiene, ambience and security are taken care of.She feels that one should not deviate from his goals. What one wishes to do in life must be clear.May be our parents are not watching but we should be responsible enough.
Lalita Raj from Arera Girls Hostel is happy at how life is going on and stresses on good food as main concern. She is happy about freedom but says it should be in a limit.
