The Lokayukta Organisation is now preparing its 26th report. The report is expected to be ready by 15th of this month. In fact, the government has not tabled the 25th report in the Vidhan Sabha so far.
Sources informed that the officers of the Lokayukta is busy in preparing the report for the year 2007-08. The report may include the number of complaints received, the number of cases registered, the current position of complaints and cases, and how many complaints have been rejected.
Apart from this, the number of chalans submitted to the courts and the number of cases in which the accused have been convicted.
Only recently, the 24th report of the Lokayukta pertaining to the year 2005-06 was tabled in the Vidhan Sabha. The 25th report for the period ending 2006-07 is yet to be tabled in the Vidhan Sabha. It may be noted here that the Lokayukta Organisation submits its report to the Governor. The Governor sends it to the state government for further necessary action.
The Lokayukta is on leave from today
Lokayukta Justice Ripusudan Dayal will be on leave till April 20 from Saturday. He will be back in the capital on April 21. The staff of the organisation will continue to work on the pending cases and complaints.
The Bureau of Economic Offences Wing of the state government has registered cases against a builder and five others in Jabalpur who had collected money fraudulently from 83 persons promising houses to them.
Sources said that Vinay Daya Pandey, son of Brajbhushan Pandey, resident of Sangam Colony, Jabalpur owns the M/s Sai Bridge Contractor Company. In connivance with Tapasann Bengali, Basant Sunder Suller, Shyam Sunder, Sanjay Solanki and Subhash Patel, the builder promised people to arrange easy bank loan for construction of houses. On producing of documents, the accused themselves took loan to the tune of Rs 2.67 crore from the Gorakhpur based Sand Bank on the name of the 83 persons. Out of the loaned amount, Rs 2.63 crore were deposited in their personal account. The builder had produced in the bank the identity cards and other necessary documents of the 83 victims.
The main accused Vinay Daya Pandey had made agreements with the victims to provide them economic houses at a colony near Jabalpur. He also got signature of the victims on plain papers and transferred the loan amount into the account of himself and the co-accused persons. Without the help of the bank officials and employees, this fraud could not have been successfully completed. When the victims came to know about the fraud, they complained to the Bureau of Economic Offences Wing.
After thorough investigation on the case, the Bureau registered cases against the six accused persons.
