SC oks 27 pc quota to OBCs, creamy layer out

| New Delhi, Apr 10:
In a major boost to reservation, the Supreme Court on Thursday
upheld the Constitution amendment law providing for 27 per
cent quota for OBCs in IITs, IIMs and other Central educational
institutions but excluded the creamy layer from the benefit.

The Government on Thursday admitted that rising food prices
would make the task of containing inflation a more difficult
exercise and may hurt economic growth and reforms process,
but ruled out any "blind controls" to rein in the
increasing rates.
