Iron-ore reserves enough for 200 yrs: Govt

New Delhi, Apr 10: The government today assured that the country has enough iron-ore deposits to fulfil its requirements for the next 200 years.

''We assure the people of the country that India has enough iron-ore reserves to sustain for another 200 years,'' Minister of Mines Sis Ram Ola said here.

He further said the country does not lack in the iron-ore resources and emphasised on more findings, as many minerals are there across various parts of the country.

Ola added that the country has to adopt the latest global technology to discover and explore rich minerals scattered over different parts of the country.

''Zinc has been found in Rajasthan. There is a possibility that many other minerals are there and in this regard, a survey is being conducted,'' the Minister said at a press conference.

Expressing satisfaction over the National Mineral Policy, 2008, Ola said it will help bring more foreing direct investment (FDI) in the country.

He is quite hopeful that the National Mineral Policy will be passed by Parliament in the coming session.
