Vice-chancellor of Vikram University, Ujjain has been accused of giving promotion and making appointments violating all norms. Candidates who were not eligible were called for interviews for various educational and non-educational posts and selected.
However, there was a mistake made- the advertisement for these posts was published after making the appointments- a volley of protests followed. National Students Union of India (NSUI) started agitation under the leadership of its district president Dheeraj Yadav and they burnt the effigy of the VC Ramrajesh Mishra.
Former Senator Rajendra Kumar Baghela lodged complaint to the President of India Ms Pratibha Tai Patil, Minister for Human Resource Development, Arjun Singh, Governor Dr Balram Jakhar that the matter should be investigated and demanded for cancelling all the appointments made.
Posters were stuck on the wall regarding this matter before the convocation ceremony of the University on March 2, 2008. There is no national level scholar in the department of ancient Indian History, Culture and Archeology, which is the identity of the University. Dhirendra Solanki was appointed as Reader in the department, he has no educational experience and he was working as non-teaching staff as class III employee. He passed BA in 3rd (III) Division.
