Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has awarded Rs 25 lakh and shield to the West Central Railway for its excellent performance in the field of loading of goods at a function held in New Delhi the other day. The Railway Minister praised the officials of the WCR and handed over the award and the shield to Chief Manager (Transport) V N Tripathi and Chief Commercial Manager (freight) G D Sharma .
Lalu Prasad Yadav lauded the efforts of the WCR for exceeding the target given to it. The target of the WCR for 2007-08 was 28 million tonnes which was exceeded by 14.2 per cent (29.55 million tonnes). The railways' overall target was 790 million tonnes for the year 2007-08 which was to be achieved by 16 zonal railways. The West Central Railways not only achieved the target but also has exceeded it. Whether it is earning more revenue, maintaining of train timings or achieving new target, the WCR is ahead of every other railways.
Railway Minister's two more shields to WCR
The Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav will give away two shields to the WCR at a function to be held on the 53 rd Railway Week on April 16. The newly appointed general manager of WCR, V K Mangalik will receive the shields from the railway minister.
The railway minister has announced to give two more shields to the WCR. One is for its excellent work in the field of upkeep of train timings. This shield is for one year. The other shield is given to the Signals and Telecommunication Department of the WCR. This shield is shared by the North Eastern Railways for a period of six months.
