New Delhi, Apr 9:
The CBI on Wednesday filed a chargesheet against former Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) officer Maj Gen (Retd) V K Singh for violating the Official Secrets Act.
Singh has been chargesheeted for giving out certain details in his book, 'India's External Intelligence: Secrets of RAW', which alleges corruption in the country's external intelligence agency.
The CBI also filed a chargesheet against publisher of the book, Manas Publications.
The CBI had booked 63-year-old Singh under Section 5 of the Officials Secrets Act (wrongful communication of information) in September last year, three months after his book on alleged corruption in the RAW had hit the stands.
Singh was on deputation from the Army to RAW from 2000 till his retirement in 2004.
The CBI is backing its chargesheet with statements from RAW officials stating that the information used by Singh in his book were of classified nature, but has no other documents to suggest it, sources said.
