Bhopal, Apr 9:
``Peace is long coveted dream for Israel and for that even we are ready to divide the controvetrsial West Bank territory, which is the bone of contention, between Israel and Palestine. We believe in give and take policy. For the friendly bilateral relation confidence, co-operation and sharing are imperatively needed'', said Lior Weintraub, spokesperson of Embassy of Israel at a press meet organised here on Wednesday.
Israel and India have lots of similarities between them, both are world's oldest civilizations, got independence after post Second World War, both are vibrant young political democracy system and universal suffrage. Even their problems like terrorism, water management, bilateral relations with adjoining countries and their solutions are also almost the same. We believe there is lot of space to make robust and friendly environment between the countries. Even further, I would say sky is the limit for our friendship and it is India, who has to decide the sky and we will reach till there,
He said that ``Our friendship is very young, just 16 years old and during this short span of time we came very close to each other. It is a pride for us that Israel is the second biggest armament dealer of India, followed by Russia.
Nearer for commonman
A member of every second family of Israel has visited India as we feel it is nearer for us because we cannot go for visit to our neighbouring states of middle east, Europe is very much similar. It is only India, which fascinate us towards its holy places, natural cites, diverse culture, prosperous agriculture and rapidly developing science and information technology.
Farming
Both in India and Israel farming is means of livelyhood for majority of the citizens. At present there is huge give and take of agri info and new experiments. Even Indian Agricultural Minister Sharad Pawar visited Israel to accelerate and promote in the field of agriculture. At present Israel government signed Memorandum of Understanding with Gujarat government regarding dairy project. Besides, the country is also working on a project of desert farming in Rajasthan. ``I believe, we can learn a lot from each other'', he added
Education
``Education makes lot of difference so we have given focus on it. At present, we are teaching Hindi, Telgu and Malyalam languages in our universities. Even Indian students come to Israel for higher studies but the number is very less. We are planning to increase scholarships so common Indian students can come here'', he said.
Science and technology
India is building closer ties with Israel in the areas of nanotechnology, alternative fuels, agriculture, animal husbandry and space research. Israel's Minister for Science and Technology, Eliezer Moodi Sandberg, said in 2003 that Israel was keen on strengthening science and technology ties with India considering that the latter had a rich base of scientists and technologists and the two countries could benefit by synergising their activities.
Intelligence and military
India and Israel have increased co-operation in military and intelligence ventures since the establishment of diplomatic relations. India recently launched a military satelite for Isreal. This relationship soon develop into a major defense partnership between India and Israel.
Only peace has fruit
Mahatma Gandhi inspired us and we believe in his quotation 'Eye for eye makes the world blind'. It is only peace, which has sweet and delicious juicy fruit. It is not zero sums game for us. We left the Gaza and they are chasing us from there, we left Lebanon and they are chasing us from there.
