China suspends multiple-entry visas  

Hong Kong, Apr 8:
Chinese authorities have stopped issuing multiple-entry visas to foreigners and slowed visa processing in Hong Kong, a major gateway for travel to the mainland, in restrictions that will last until after the Beijing Olympics, local travel agents said Tuesday.

Militant supporters of President Robert Mugabe have targeted whites, forcing about a dozen ranchers and farmers off their land as Zimbabwe's longtime ruler fanned racial tensions amid fears he will turn to violence to hold on to power.
 
Heavy fighting kills 37 in Sri Lanka 

Colombo, Apr 8:
At least 37 Tamil Tigers were killed in fierce clashes between the rebels and security forces in embattled northern Sri Lanka, where Air Force fighter jets destroyed a suspected LTTE suicide bomber training base.
 
US, NKorea in key nuclear talks 

Singapore, Apr 8:
The United States and North Korea held key talks in Singapore on Tuesday over the communist state's nuclear disarmament but the US warned efforts to resolve an impasse were running out of time.
