A wise decision

Rahul Gandhi's "NO" to the induction in the Union Cabinet speaks volumes for the political maturity of this scion of the Nehru Gandhi dynasty. "Sehaj pakke so meetha hoye," says an old adage. His is a wise decision that will stand him in good stead in the long run. One, the UPA government is on its last leg. It can go any time on one issue or the other during the next 10 months. Two, Rahul's induction in the Cabinet will, to a great extent, deprive the Congress of a charismatic campaigner. Three, if he is inducted, Sonia Gandhi will be accused of running a family concern. Last but not the least, for enduring leadership of the country, Rahul has to earn his spurs, by working amongst the people a lot more.

Presently, he is sailing on the aura of the dynasty that may dissolve with the fall of the UPA government for one reason or the other. Rahul without a cabinet rank is a much greater threat to the opposition than Rahul in the cabinet.
