The Public Health Engineering Department in the state has proposed a plan outlay of Rs 322.75 crore for drinking water during the current fiscal. Out of this, Rs.232.4 crore will be spent in rural areas while the share of towns and cities is only Rs. 90.31 crore. In 3000 dwellings where drinking water was supplied at the rate of 40 litre per person will now get 55 litre per person.
The State Planning Commission has accepted the plan outlay of Rs 322.75 crore for the PHED. With this amount, works like provision of drinking water, cleanliness and improvement of the environment will be undertaken.
Under the proposed plan, drinking water will be provided to 600 dwellings where there is no source of drinking water. Old and out of order tube wells will be discarded and digging of new tubewells will be done.
