The Export of Soybean meal in the first six months of the Oil year (October - September) basis shows a commendable performance by the trade. The Exports during the period October'07 to March'08 was 3223919 MT as compared to 2762268 MT registering a 16.71% growth over the last year.
During the current Oil year the markets where significant increase has been observed are Philippines, Singapore and Sri Lanka. In these markets Indian Soy meal exports were placed at 77529 MT to Philippines as against 26139 MT last year showing a jump of 196.6%, 141170 MT to Singapore as against 75489 MT last year showing a increase of 87% and 55135 MT to Sri Lanka as against 30070 MT last year showing a increase over 83%. In one of our major markets namely Indonesia, the increase has been just over 36% from 409117 MT to 463382 MT.
The Export of Soybean Meal during March'08 was 605852 MT as against 565946 MT during the same period last year showing a growth of 7.05% over the last year. The total exports of Soybean meal for financial year April'07 to March'08 this year were, however down at 3987267 MT as against 4196295 MT during the same period last year, indicating a marginal decline of 5% over last year.
During the current Financial year the Two significant markets were Vietnam and Japan. In These market Indian Soy meal exports were placed at 1171006 MT to Vietnam as against 892772 MT in the previous financial year while 696720 MT to Japan as against 535810 MT in the corresponding period last year. This shows a 31.16% jump in our exports to Vietnam and 30% to Japan.
