Rly tickets through ATM

Bhopal, Apr 7: Divisional Railway Manager, Ashok Kumar Agrawal on Monday inaugurated the first ATM-cum-eTicket machine, installed by the Canara Bank on the western side of Bhopal Railway Station.

Ashok Kumar Agrawal said that the machine is beautiful as well as helpful too. People can withdraw money from the ATM. At the same time, e-ticket can also be purchased through the ATM machine.

The DRM said that the railways are taking steps for the convenience of the passengers. He said ticket could be purchased through internet. Efforts are being made so that tickets could be sold through ATM machines, and through petrol pumps also. He hoped that this would help the passengers from waiting on long queues at the ticket counters in railway stations.

Ashok Kumar Agrawal has also inspected the Bhopal Railway Station and enquired about the works being done to increase passenger facilities. He also directed the officials to speed up the works.

Senior Divisional Manger (Commercial),G S Awasthi, Senior Divisional Manager (operations) Hemendra Kumar, Senior Divisonal Enginer (Coordination) Sumit Sardana, Senior Divisional Signal and Telecom Engineer Deepak Arora, Senior Divisional Electric Engineer (Gen), Surendra Yadav, Senior Divisional Engineer (North), JS Meena, and Canara Bank officers like Deputy General Manager of Canara Bank, Balvir Chandra, Assistant General Manager Jai Venkataraman, Senior Manager BSR Murthy were present on the occasion.

It may be mentioned here that this is the biggest technological initiative towards the service of general public in the entire state. Canara Bank Deputy Manager Balbir Chand said that the bank has enlisted the list of prestigious banks installing Ticket Kiosk. He added that the bank already had installed two Ticketing Kiosks cum ATM, each at Ujjain and Indore.

Admission in Excellence Schools on merit basis

Bhopal, Apr 7: The written test for admission in Excellence Schools for the year 2008-09 would be held on May 18. These schools are being run at the district headquarters by School Education Department and Tribal Welfare Department. Like previous years, this year also written test for admission would be conducted by Professional Examination Board and students would be selected on the basis of merit. The last date for submitting applications is May 1, 2008.

Those who have secured 50 per cent or more marks in class VIII are eligible to apply for admission. The medium of education at Excellence Schools would be Hindi/ English. Those students who have appeared in this year's class VIII examinations can also appear at the admission test. These students can apply on the basis of self-proclamation if their mark sheets are not yet available.

A student must secure at least 33 percent marks in the admission test to become eligible for admission. After the admission test, a merit list would be prepared and students would be given admission against vacant seats as per the merit list. Reservation would be given to schedule castes, scheduled tribes, other backward classes and handicapped students.

The Excellence School at the district level would be the centre for admission test for the students of that district. Wherever, there would be excess number of candidates, the principal of the concerning Excellence School would determine an additional admission test centre. Application forms can be had from offices of the Excellence School/Block Education Officer. It is compulsory to submit OMR Sheet along with application form.

The application forms with OMR Sheet would be accepted at the office of Excellence School by May 1, 2008. The admission test would be conducted under the control and supervision of the district collector with the coordination by principals and secretaries of Excellence School, District Education Officer/Assistant Commissioner Tribal Welfare. The test for admission in class IX of Excellence Schools would be conducted on May 18 from 8 to 10 am.
