Cong will pay for price rise in polls: Advani

Agencies

New Delhi, Apr 6: BJP on Sunday said that the common man will make the Congress pay a heavy price in the elections for the current inflation. "As far as price rise is concerned, the people will make you(the UPA government) pay a heavy price whenever the elections are held," BJP leader L K Advani said here.

The government's figures show that the inflation rate has risen to seven per cent. This is an official admission of the UPA government's utter failure to control prices of essential commodities, he added

"The common man today fondly recall the Vajpayee government's success in keeping prices under check. Price rise means daily loot from the meagre family budget of a common man, the aam aadmi , in whose name Congress sought the mandate in 2004," he said in his address.

Advani also sought to suggest that "historically, whenever the Congress has come to power at the Centre, price rise, corruption and malgovernance have also come along."

He said the "balloon of the so-called dream budget of UPA government has now burst."
