BHEL-Haridwar, arm of state-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, on Saturday posted a turnover of Rs 2,658 crore for the year 2007-08, showing a growth of 17 per cent over the previous year.
Heavy Electrical Equipment Plant (HEEP) and Central Foundry Forge Plant (CFFP), two units at BHEL-Haridwar, contributed significantly to the growth of the company, it said in a statement.
HEEP posted a turnover of Rs 2,350 crore, 17.3 per cent higher over the year-ago period. Profit before tax rose to Rs 449 crore and recorded an operational cash surplus of Rs 756 crore.
CFFP recorded Rs 308 crore in turnover during the last fiscal, a rise of 14 per cent over the previous year's figures. CFFP is doubling its present manufacturing capacity of castings and forgings to 16,000 MT a year at an investment of Rs 150 crore.
"We have been able to achieve this with timely delivery of equipment. Majority of the equipment delivered has been manufactured in the plant itself," HEEP Executive Director D K Mody said.
The company received orders worth Rs 5,000 crore last year, including orders for a set of 600 MW, 15 sets of 500 MW, 11 sets of 250 MW, one set of 210 MW, besides export order for two sets of 150 MW gas turbines.
Sixty-three modules of steam turbines, two hydro turbines and 18 generators and other equipments totalling 5,000 MW were manufactured at HEEP.
BHEL- Haridwar commissioned four sets of 500 MW at Bellary, Birsinghpur, Kahalgaon and Sipat, two sets of 210 MW at Rayal Seema and Bakreshwar, one set of 110 MW at Dholpur and 4 hydro-sets of 76 MW at Maneribhali.
BHEL unit in state registers over Rs 800 cr profit
Hyderabad: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) unit here recorded an all-time-high turnover of Rs 3,321 crore and a profit of Rs 801 crore (before tax) for 2007-08, registering a growth of 15 per cent and 22 per cent on turnover and profit respectively. G V Rami Reddy, Executive Director, Ramchandrapuram unit of BHEL, speaking to media persons here on Friday said that for the year 2008-09 a turnover target of Rs 4,321 crore is set to be achieved, while for 2011-12 the turnover target would be Rs 7,000 crore. Reddy expressed his elation over the order book position and said that as on date the orders on hand are a whopping Rs 8,766 crore. The corporate Order Book position is a record breaking Rs 50,265 crore, he said, adding that it demonstrates customer confidence reposed in BHEL. The executive director had unveiled a strategic plan through which the unit is gearing up to achieve a turnover level of Rs 7,000 crore by 2001-2012 which includes introduction of gas turbines for gas transportation projects and IGCC applications, air cooled condensers, pumps for nuclear power plants, pulverizers for non-coal applications, oil rigs with AC drives and 800 K Switchgears. Reddy said that plans also includes development of Hyderabad unit as a centre for thermo-mechanical systems covering a wide range of industrial applications with EPC capacity.
