Bhopal, Apr 5: Swati Chitnis, die-hard actress, renowned social activist and feminist is seen as Jesuben in serial Jesuben Jayantilal Ki Joint Family that is aired on NDTV Imagine. Acting is first love for her and everything comes later. She has been working in dramas for the last near about three decades. She is not happy with the present condition of women in the society and protest of inequality in pay on the basis of gender.

Q: Did you get theater as legacy? Form Whom?

Theatre did not come as legacy for me, actually it is my interest in acting and theater that brought me here. One thing I honestly accept, here (Maharashtra) is fertile and prosperous land for theatre. Various schools and Colleges organise 'One Act Play' competitions that gives platform for new actors and actress.

Q: When did you start theater work?

I was in X Std then we staged a drama 'Julus' in our school with Amol Palekar under the direction of Vijay Mehta. It was fantastic experience and from then I have started my career in theater and never looked back.

Q: How did your parents react to your decision peruse your career in theatre work?

My parents appreciated my performance and encouraged me. Being as girl one has some limitation and restrictions but I was never subject to such restrictions. Contrary, my mother only advised me to give 100 per cent concentration to my chosen field.

Q: How was your college life?

I have completed BA from Ramnarayan Ruiya College, well known as Ruiya College, in Dadar Mumbai. Through out the year, I participated in various drama competitions but never at the cost of my studies. I love theater but my love for studies is different. Besides I have also participated in tours and gathering functions.

Q: Being as theater artist, have you faced any problem when you landed in front of camera.

Theater is base of acting. It is tougher than action for serial or film. There is no retake in theater, once the curtain unveil actor has to face the audience directly. I remember, I have little anxiety in my mind but no any problem as such.

Q: Who is your ideal that inspires you for the last three decades?

I have no one in particular as ideal, in every performance I learnt form various directors. Besides, my family members, who have done invaluable service towards the country, inspire me.

Q: How do you give time to your family?

Whatever we get leisure time we spend together. Once it was very tough time for me take care of children and family members. Now, every time is fine, children are grown up, son is perusing aeronautical studies in abroad. I can give my best for my career.

Great writers and theater artists, in Maharashtra have been playing vital role in social movements. How is your experience?

My father was working in Indian Navy, I learnt lesson of social service and dedication from him. I do like to be active in active social activities. Besides, the serial or drama, I participate focus on the various aspects of society. In Jesuben Jayantilal Joshi Ki Joint Family' serial, Jasuben is a responsible person towards family and society.

How is your experience during the shooting of 'Jesuben Jayantilal Joshi Ki Joint Family' serial?

On the eve of first shot I/ we have anxiety in mind, but every thing we smoothly. Casts and crew are very cooperative and friendly. All cherish the feeling of family members.

How do you feel when you watch your won serial 'Jesuben Ki... at home?

When I watch this serial at home, I feel reminiscent about the actual time of shooting, problems, advice and comments passed then. I believe no one is perfect but one can try to be nearest of perfection. I find out my faults and work on them.

How do you feel about the present condition of women?

At present the scenario is not satisfactory. Women are still downtrodden and are not getting justice to their work. Though they possess more capabilities and capacities yet are not getting equal wage. As compare to past, it better yet have to go a long way.

How do you feel when audience meet you?

Jesuben Jayantilal Joshi Ki Joint Family' serial is appreciated by the people. I feel very glad whenever audience meet me appreciate the serial.

Any message for youth?

Career is not limited to get job and then relax. It is continuous die-hard worship for your chosen field. Don't practice shortcut for success, shortcut may short cut your plan.
