Executive Director - Strategy & Business Development, Tata Power Company Ltd Banmali Agrawala, has been elected as Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry, Western Region, at a meeting held in Mumbai on Friday. Agrawala has held several important positions at CII. He was a member of the CII National Council, Deputy Chairman of CII Western Region for the year 2007-08, Chairman of the Maharashtra State Council of CII Western Region for 2005-06, Chairman of the Energy Sub Committee of the CII Western Region and Chairman of the Mumbai Chapter of "Young Indians" in 2003-2004, which is also a part of CII.
Agrawala has completed his graduation in BE Mechanical Engineering with distinction from Mangalore University in 1984. His professional experience includes working from 1984 -1987 with Bajaj Auto in the R&D department on emissions control and engine testing. Soon after he joined the Wärtsilä Group in 1987 and during his tenure of 20 years in the organisation, has grown to assume various positions of responsibility. In 2003, he was promoted as Managing Director, Wartsila India Ltd and during September 2006 was given additional charge of the global Bio Power business and appointed as Vice - President Bio Power of the Wartsila Corporation.
