This
refers to the report "Another chance for voter ID cards" that
appeared in your esteemed Paper on April 1. I hope it is real
and not an April 1 prank played on the hapless voters. I must
have called the Election Commissioner's office at lease a
dozen times to inquire about the delivery of my voter ID card
for which I was photographed in last August at Subhash Higher
Secondary School next to Arera Colony. After referring me
from one official to another for the latest position on the
subject all that I got in reply was a rude answer, "It is
the job of the Collector's office and not ours.
Check
with the Collector's office." I did speak to a very polite
Mr. Rajesh Kochar, a Joint Collector who said that he was
put in charge of the work for a brief period and was now on
his way out. I hope that now the promised date of April 15
for delivery of the ID cards indicated in the aforesaid newspaper
report will be adhered to and the poor common man in whose
name the government is run will not be made to run from pillar
to post.
