Generate employment in 165 drought hit tehsils

Bhopal, Apr 2: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the need for employment generation in rural areas of drought-affected districts would be taken care of. The National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme provides for hundred days employment to the need in a year, which would benefit the needy. He said that Chachoda tahasil has been drought affected recently. With this the total number of drought-affected tahasils has gone upto 165 in 39 districts of the state.

The Chief Minister reviewed the situation arising out of the dry spell and other natural calamities in the state at a meeting of the cabinet committee here at Mantralaya today. The Minister for Finance Raghavji and the Chief Secretary RC Sahni also attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that relief amounting to Rs 43 crore has been distributed to farmers whose crops were damaged due to cold waves and frost last month in the state. These calamities befell 19 districts. Arrangements of fodder have been made as per requirement in other drought affected districts. Relief works are continuing in the affected areas of Bundelkhand region.

The meeting also discussed the efforts made to secure assistance from the central government for drought relief. The Chief Minister directed to make adequate drinking water arrangements in rural and urban areas. He also directed to complete the incomplete piped-water schemes and to explore the possibilities of carrying water through lifting from rivers and dams. After this works of nullah bunding and tube well boring should be taken up. Chouhan also directed to make arrangements for transportation of drinking water wherever necessary.

Looters snatch chains of women

Bhopal, Apr 2: The incident of chain snatching is increasing day by day continuously with women at BHEL Area. Police Officer said regarding this matter that strict campaign is being carried out for stopping such kind of incidents.

Around two dozens cases about incident of chain snatching with women have been registered under Police Stations of BHEL Area during last months.

As a result, women are feeling unsafe and the accused ran away from the spot to occur incidents within sometime.

Incidents are occurred at deserted road by the miscreants. Arti Dubey, resident of Barkheda Pathani said that we are feeling unsafe during such kind of incidents continuously. Some youths are involving in crime due to addiction. Amrita Jain, resident of Indrapuri said that such kind of incidents are being occurred by the youth, who are below 30 years.
