Implementation of Doctors' Protection Act demanded

Bhopal, Apr 1: The Indian Medical Association's (IMA) Jabalpur unit has demanded the Madhya Pradesh Government to implement the Doctors' Protection Act on the lines of Andhra Pradesh in view of incidents of beating up and vandalism in nursing home and hospital premises by the relatives of deceased patients.

IMA Jabalpur unit president BK Panse today said a delegation of doctors met Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi yesterday and informed him about the incident of relatives of a woman indulging in beating up and vandalism at a private hospital here.

The doctors told Vishnoi that that such incidents had come down in Andhra Pradesh where the Act has been implemented. The Health Minister assured them that legal procedure related to the Act was in progress. The legal department of the government would present the Act before the cabinet within 15 days.

Rs 5.75 cr project for cluster development

Bhopal, Apr 1: Proposals to the tune of Rs 5.75 lakh for development of 11 areas of the state under Integrated Cluster Development Programme have been forwarded to the Union government by Directorate of Handloom. These areas are Saunsar, Sarangpur, Maheshwar, Varaseoni, Maheshwar (Rural), Sidhi (Pathrohi), Uthana (Neemuch), Ashta (Sehore), Mandsaur, Lodhikhera-Mohagaon (Chhindwara) and Kasrod (Khargone).

Similarly, dyeing centres would be established at five places with a view to making available quality dyeing facilities to handloom weavers in the state. The places include Chanderi (Ashok Nagar), Maheshwar (Dhar), Sarangpur (Rajgarh), Varaseoni (Balaghat) and Saunsar (Chhindwara).
