Inhuman practices in govt. homes

This refers to the report "Boy burnt, blinded in govt home". Datelined Chennai, March 21. Eight-year-old Manikandan, an orphan and a mentally challenged child who was constantly subjected to the torture and chaining at the government run home near Chennai by the attendants went partially blind and developed ulcers all around his legs and feet. A country's greatness is measured not by its wealth but how it treats underprivileged classes. The incident cited above clearly shows that w don't measure up to that loft standard. Country's underprivileged must be protected from abuse and given proper attention and care.
