Excise Department has so far disposed of 3382 liquor shops. Excise Commissioner Shri T Dharmarao said that by way of disposal of shops state government would receive revenue to the tune of Rs 1613.24 crore which is 18 percent more than the last year.
The 3382 shops disposed of by the Excise Department for the year 2008-09 include 2677 country and 765 foreign liquor shops. The state government would receive 18 per cent more revenue during the year 2008-09 which would be to the tune of Rs 1613.24 crore as compared to Rs 1367.61 crore during the year 2007-08. It may be mentioned that last year also 18.46 per cent rise was achieved by the Excise Department in the disposal of liquor shops.
The Excise Commissioner informed that 20 per cent or more revenue has been generated in comparison to last year in 30 districts including Guna, Ashok Nagar, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Dhar, Jhabua, Khargone, Badwani, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen, Hoshangabad, Harda, Betul, Katni, Mandla, Dindori, Seoni, Balaghat, Neemuch, Ratlam, Dewas, Shajapur, Sagar, Shahdol, Anuppur and Umaria.
Similarly, 19.43 per cent increase was registered as compared to last year in Ujjain division, 19.08 per cent in Rewa division, 18.71 per cent in Sagar division, 18.63 percent in Indore division, 38.23 in Bhopal division, 16.18 per cent in Jabalpur division and 15.98 per cent in Gwalior division.
