Trai decides to phase out levy on telcos  

New Delhi March 27:
Private telecom operators will not have to pay any levy to BSNL to compensate it for carrying out rural operations, sector regulator Trai announced today, a move that may hit BSNL's expansion plans in remote areas.
 
Telcoms wiring up to go all wireless 

Mumbai, March 27:
India's chances of meeting a 2010 target of 20 million broadband subscribers relies heavily on going wireless and telecoms companies are tripping over themselves to spread the net.
 
Sensex ends down 71pts; Hindalco gains 7%

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 137 points at 15,950 on the back of weak cues from the global markets. Weakness in the first half of the day saw the index slip to a low of 15,869.
 
Daimler-Hero JV gets govt approval  

New Delhi March 27:
Government today gave approval to a Rs 1,650 crore investment by Germany's Dailmer AG on its proposed joint venture with India's Hero Group for manufacturing commercial vehicles.
