As compared to last year, thirteen percent more budget has been allocated for health facilities by Madhya Pradesh government for the financial year beginning from April 1. For the last four years 10 percent increase is being made in the budget for health facilities every year. This information was given by Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Ajay Vishnoi.
Vishnoi said that Rs 1091 crore 95 lakh budget for health facilities has been allocated for the year 2008-09 as compared to Rs 960 crore 05 lakh which is 13 percent more. The non-Plant budgetary allocation for the year 2007-08 was Rs 609 crore 96 lakh as compared to Rs 717 crore one lakh for the year 2008-09 which is 17.55 more than the last year.
He said that for the Plan outlay also, the Health Department has made a provision of Rs 167 crore 75 lakh for the year 2008-09 as compared to Rs 155 crore for the year 2007-08. This amount is 8.22 percent more than that of the last year. There was a provision to the tune of 184 crore 83 lakh in last year's budget while for the year 2008-09 Rs 199 crore six lakh has been allocated. This is 7.7 percent more than last year's allocation.
According to Vishnoi, adequate funds have been allocated for treatment of pensioners also by the state government. Rs ten crore has been allocated in the budget for the year 2008-09 for making health facilities to pensioners which is 21.21 percent more than Rs eight crore 25 lakh allocation for the year 2007.08
