Lebanon's parliament speaker Nabih Berri has postponed the country's presidential elections to April 22, after rival parties failed to reached a compromise.

The Bush administration has said it is looking forward to work closely with the new Pakistan government to be headed by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, who seemed certain to challenge embattled US ally President Pervez Musharraf.

A Chinese-born US engineer convicted of conspiring to smuggle sensitive technology about US Navy submarines to China has been sentenced to 24 years in jail, justice officials said.
