Service Tax-absurd Rule
-Deposit before collection |
| Service tax collected up to March 31 is required to be deposited on the same day i.e., March 31!It means service tax collected on March 31 is to be deposited on the same day. How is it possible? Banks close by 2pm or so and normal offices work up to 5.00 or 5.30 or even 6pm. If service tax is received even at 2pm -is it practically possible to deposit it by 2 pm or so into Bank branches where service tax is being deposited. This is an absurd notification and must be struck down by Courts of Law. Also it is not possible for Bank to accept service tax by millions of service tax payers in one day -as almost all business houses are covered by it. Also it shall lead to corruption too as for late deposit of service tax -without fault of assesses-as absurd and illogical Rules and tax laws are made by the government and then citizens are blamed for not paying taxes in time or avoiding tax payments.
Can Finance Minister you too can deposit service tax before collecting it? Levy it on Advocates and you shall be covered by it. Then you shall realize actual problems of Service tax too.
