New Delhi, March 24: Sania Mirza's commendable run at last week's Pacific Life Open that ended in the fourth round has helped the Indian ace gain a spot to be 31st in the latest WTA Rankings issued Monday. Sania, who battled a wrist injury through her fourth-round loss to Slovak Daniela Hantuchova in the $ 2.1 million event, now has 917 ranking points. The Hyderabadi star has also gained three places in her doubles rankings, moving up to 22nd with 1830 points after the semi-final appearance in the Pacific Life Open.

Sania and her American partner Bethanie Mattek had lost to the Chinese pair of Zi Yan and Jie Zheng in the last-four stage. Meanwhile, in the ATP doubles rankings, Mahesh Bhupathi leapt four spots to 13th in the latest list. The Indian veteran who reached the doubles quarter-final of men's Master Series event with Bahamas' partner Mark Knowles, has 2740 points. However, his estranged partner Leander Paes dropped a couple of rungs despite matching Bhupathi's show in the event with his Australian partner Paul Hanley. Paes is placed 20th with 2070 points.
